Businesses are the heart of an economy as they determine the GDP of a country, provide employment to people, and determine the growth of the economy as a whole. India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world, and this is mainly due to the relentless efforts of enterprising industrialists who have brought our country on the world stage.

So, lets have a look at the most famous pillars of the Indian industry:

  1. Mukesh Ambani

According to Forbes magazine, Mr. Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in India, as well as in Asia. He is also the 13th richest person in the world! His company Reliance has the highest valuation (approximately Rs. 8 Lakh Crore!) on the stock market. The companies are involved in the sectors of oil, petrochemicals, telecom and retail.

2. Sir Ratan Tata

Mr. Ratan Tata needs no introduction. He is the chairman emeritus of the biggest and oldest business house of India — the TATA GROUP. The salt to software conglomerate is valued at approximately $100 billion and is an Indian multinational with subsidiaries in different parts of the world.

3. Kumar Mangalam Birla

Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla is the chairman of the ADITYA BIRLA GROUP, which is an Indian multinational with operations in South East Asia, US, Europe etc. The group is present in various sectors like Cement, VSF, Telecom, Textiles etc. and is a top three player in all the sectors.

4. Sunil Bharti Mittal

Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal is a self made billionaire and is the man responsible for bringing the telecom revolution in India with his company BHARTI AIRTEL. The company is one of the largest telecom operators in India and the world, with operations in 16 countries and a subscriber base of 390 million. The group is also involved in other businesses like insurance, retail, malls, real estate, food and agriculture.

5. Anand Mahindra

Mr. Anand Mahindra is the chairman of the MAHINDRA GROUP, which is a conglomerate based in Mumbai. The group is involved in Auto and auto components, defence, aerospace, finance and insurance, information technology, industrial equipment, leisure and hospitality, real estate and retail.

6. Narayan Murthy

Mr. Narayan Murthy is an IT industrialist, co-founder of INFOSYS, and is considered the father of Indian IT sector.

7. Azim Premji

Mr. Azim Premji is the chairman of WIPRO, and is the second richest man in India. He is responsible for making his company a global leader in the field of IT. He is famous not only for his business skills, but also for his philanthropy.

8. Dilip Sanghvi

Mr. Dilip Sanghvi is the founder and MD of SUN PHARMACEUTICALS (drug manufacturing company) and is one the most successful businessmen of India.

9. Shiv Nadar

Mr. Shiv Nadar is the founder of HCL and Shiv Nadar Foundation. He is a billionaire industrialist and philanthropist.

10. Rajiv Bajaj

Mr. Rajiv Bajaj is the MD of Bajaj Auto, which is into manufacturing of high quality bikes. He is a young, dynamic and unconventional CEO who turned the fortunes of his company by launching Pulsar range of motorbikes. He is often considered as the most intelligent man in the automobile industry.
